Aurore has the most fascinating and diverse background. Her mother is half-Vietnamese, half-Indian; her father is half-Italian, half-Ukrainian and her husband is French, making Aurore truly a world citizen! Aurore is a native of Paris, a self-taught cook, who inherited her love for cooking at an early age. She was truly lucky to learn cooking from her parents who came from such a diverse backgrounds and fondly remembers helping around in the kitchen doing small chores like cutting carrots for dinner. She learned from her parents to cook Vietnamese, Indian, Italian, Ukrainian and French food and now wishes to share this knowledge with her children as well! Aurore’s mother cooked almost every single meal, and Aurore does the same for her family as well. Aurore loves to cook from scratch and uses only the best ingredients; she also knows the origin story of every ingredient she uses, as she believes they are at the heart of what she does. “I'm very proud when my 5 year old son tells me that his hachis parmentier (shepherd's pie) at school wasn't good because there wasn't any garlic, or nutmeg!“ Aurore will welcome you to her charming, sun-filled, Parisian apartment in the 7th arrondissement, located only a short walk from the Eiffel Tower. Join Aurore on her balcony and while you sip on your welcome drink, Aurore will share stories from her life growing up in Paris. While Aurore puts final touches to your meal, you can enjoy bites of cheese from a local fromagerie and freshly-baked bread. Later join Aurore at her dining table to enjoy a modern fusion French meal, that may include dishes such as smoked salmon tartare or ballotine (filo sheet stuffed with goat cheese, mint and honey), stuffed chicken (peppers, garlic, and goat cheese) or pork a la dijonnaise. End your meal with a sweet dessert such as chocolate mousse or mini-pavlovas. If you book a cooking experience, join Aurore in her kitchen to learn to cook a modern fusion French meal. Aurore is born and raised in Paris but loves adding little twists from her diverse background (Indian, Italian, Vietnamese and Ukrainian) to classic French dishes. Your hands-on cooking class will last about 1-2 hours, and you’ll help Aurore prepare 2-3 dishes from scratch. Later join Aurore at the table to enjoy the meal you helped prepare! Aurore also offers an optional market tour add-on.
