Day 2: Exploring Mayan History with a Private Guide at CaracolDiscovered in 1938 and later explored in the 1950s, Caracol was thought to be little more than a Maya ceremonial center. It was not until more extensive excavation efforts began in 1985 that the importance and expanse of Caracol became known. In 1986, a round, elaborately carved altar stone was uncovered which described a victory by Caracol over Tikal, once considered to be the most powerful Maya metropolis. This discovery filled an important missing piece of Maya history, covering approximately 140 years in the Middle Classic period, and positioned Caracol as the "Supreme" Maya city. The largest pyramid at Caracol, the Canaa, (Maya for "sky place") rises 140 feet and is the tallest man-made structure in all of Belize. Caracol is located 2 hours south of San Ignacio, in the Maya Mountains.

Day 5: Relaxing Beach Day with Sunset CruiseJoin the captain and crew aboard a thirty-eight-foot catamaran as the western sky begins to fill with the golden glow of the setting sun. As it lowers behind the horizon, millions of diamond-like reflections tip each wave and ripple as far as the eye can see; you'll never forget the first time you experience this incredible display. Your return leg takes you in front of San Pedro, where you'll get a glimpse of what the town looks like at night. After a relaxing, serene and scenic experience on the gentle waters, you'll soon find that the ship has set course for docks on the mainland, where you'll soon disembark.
Day 6: Hol Chan & Shark Ray Alley Snorkel SailingHol Chan is one of the world's most popular sites for a snorkeling adventure, and for good reason. Here you'll find that thousands of large and small fish inhabit this magnificent underwater ecosystem, which is recognized by Belize and designated as a national park as well as UNESCO which has listed the area as a World Heritage Site. To be sure, Hol Chan, or "Little Channel," which cuts all the way through the reef, lives up to its reputation as one of the world's best dive sites. Breathtaking coral of striking variety abounds, serving as a habitat for countless of species of fish. It's a marine wonderland that every snorkeler, from the earliest beginner and to the most advanced and experienced, should see and will enjoy. Today's Hol Chan experience culminates with an exciting "swim with the sharks" experience. Alongside the sharks and stingrays in Shark Ray Alley, you will float and observe as, with luck, dozens of nurse sharks circle the boat; a uniquely Caribbean welcoming committee. When you enter the water, you can observe the activities of these friendly sharks and rays up close and personal; at least if you're adventurous and not faint of heart. Before long though after a memorable adventure, you'll be returned to land.
