Day 1 San José, Costa Rica
Arrive in San José, the capital of Costa Rica, where you are met and privately transferred to your hotel, which is ideally located for exploring the city. Check in, relax and enjoy dinner on site.

Day 2 ArenalDepart this morning on an excursion to the spectacular Poas Volcano, followed by a visit to one of the largest coffee plantations in Costa Rica, where you learn everything about the process related to the cultivation, harvesting, and roasting of the golden bean. Of course, you taste the enjoyable finished product and enjoy lunch here as well. Later, continue your journey to the small village of La Fortuna, which lies at the foot of the active, perfectly conical Arenal Volcano, near Lake Arenal. Finish off an adventurous day with a relaxing soak in one of the hot springs, your favorite cocktail in hand, while enjoying the stunning views of Arenal Volcano.

Day 3 ArenalBegin your day with a combination of adrenaline and fun on a zipline adventure, as you navigate through a network of 15 platforms, five ziplines and even a swinging “Tarzan” rope, at heights where the treetops form the passing landscape. In the company of experts and your A&K guide, zoom over a canyon almost 400 feet deep, starting from the highest point in the surrounding 1,400 acres of forest. Take in spectacular views of the Pino Blanco waterfall, the Arenal volcano and Cerro Chato. Keep your eyes wide open, there might be a sloth or other forest denizens in the next tree you pass by.

Day 4 PapagayoJourney overland to the Gulf of Papagayo in Guanacaste, stopping en route in Rio Perdido for an adventure experience in the canyon that may include ziplining, hiking or whitewater tubing. Upon arrival in Papagayo, check in to your secluded beach resort hotel situated in a remote nature reserve at the tip of the Papagayo Peninsula and begin a relaxing three-night stay.

Day 5 PapagayoAfter breakfast, join your local guide and other guests on an activity that reveals the magic of the area’s unique ecosystem as you explore a mangrove forest by paddling or water bike. Day 7 PapagayoReturn to San José, stopping en route at El Viejo National Wildlife Refuge for a private guided boat excursion. As you explore, take in firsthand views of Palo Verde National Park, learning about the local ecology and watching for resident wildlife, including an incredible number of tropical bird species such as the rose-colored spoonbill and the strikingly plumed Jabirú stork. After lunch, continue to San José and settle into your hotel.
